"Smarl," a messenger delivering love, peace, and smiles. 愛と平和、笑顔を届ける
メッセンジャー『スマール』

The Museum's Mascot Character"Smarl"

Smarl is a special being who travels across parallel worlds, freely moving between planets beyond Earth and the real world.

Perhaps it's like an alter ego that journeys through the worlds I imagine wanting to see or visit (haha).

However, Smarl is not just traveling aimlessly; it has a mission. That mission is to spread "love," "peace," and "smiles" in every world it encounters.

Together with its guardians, Smarl travels through various dimensions and otherworldly realms, bringing warm smiles to the inhabitants it meets.

The moment anyone sees Smarl, they can't help but smile, feeling their heart healed.

Hello, I am Hisao China, the director.

Our theme is "The Mysterious World of the Universe and Life."

The universe itself is life, and its mystery lies in the intricate and profound connections that link all things, tangible and intangible, from the micro to the macro—including humans, animals, plants, microorganisms, and more.

For this reason, we cherish all forms of life.

This philosophy is reflected not only in my artworks but also in the building itself.

Inside the museum, we display over 500 pieces of artwork, including paintings and sculptures created over more than 50 years. The museum itself, handcrafted from reclaimed building materials, is also worth seeing.

Cafe カフェ

A space where you can enjoy both the museum and the café at the same time

How about enjoying a carefully hand-dripped coffee while soaking in the afterglow of the art? We also offer toast made with slightly sweet pumpkin bread. In this wonderful space, surrounded by art, you can feel the warmth of wooden tables and enjoy the view of the sea and forest from the windows.
